After sell-out success in London and the Edinburgh Festival, master storyteller Matthew Bourne’s darkly seductive dance theatre adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s gothic fable, comes to the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield.
Set in the image-obsessed world of contemporary art and politics, Dorian Gray, tells the story of an exceptionally alluring young man who makes a pact with the devil. Amongst London’s beautiful people, Dorian Gray is the ‘It Boy’ - an icon of beauty and truth in an increasingly ugly world.
The destructive power of beauty, and the blind pursuit of pleasure and darkness and corruption that lie beneath the charming facade are the themes behind Wilde’s cautionary tale, and have never been more timely. This is the first new production in three years from the creator of legendary Swan Lake, Highland Fling, Play Without Words, Nutcracker! and Edward Scissorhands.
