Really, last month’s Academy Awards had nothing on the release of the Drag Idol 2008 DVD.
Filmed live at the Jongleurs comedy club in Leeds, this year’s DVD keepsake is nothing short of a masterpiece, complete with outtakes, intakes and of course all the acts in splendid Technicolor. Miss Bonnie La Blue proves to be a perfect host and the two cameras really capture not only some interesting angles but the drama of the whole event.
OK, I admit it has not got Kate Winslet as part of the cast but you tell me the difference between her and Anna Glypta!
From the excellently choreographed opening number by last year’s winner, Miss Connie Cous Cous, to this year’s well-deserved winner, Duty Freda (pictured), this DVD is a must if you missed it - and if you were there you can enjoy reliving the night.
No DVD is complete without mystery, drama and suspense. The mystery - did the Lady Mayor ever sort out her new ‘friend’s’ Council Tax?; the suspense as we hold our breath for the scores; and the drama as contestant Susan Platt threatens to ruin the whole night with a nasty tantrum!!
Drag Idol the DVD 2008 is on sale at The Bridge, Blayds Bar and The Viaduct for £9.99 - with every penny going to Leeds lgbt charities.
