on the scene from March 2009
Blayds Bar in Leeds, recently taken over by Duncan and Robert, is the only bar on the Leeds scene to do a women-only night - and more importantly it is held on a Saturday, not hidden away mid-week like so many women-only nights have been in the past.
The first women-only night, held on the 7th February, was a tremendous success. The atmosphere was fun, relaxed and everything that a women-only night should be. Held upstairs at the bar from 9pm onwards, it was attended by women of all ages, shapes, sizes and backgrounds. Those who were not dancing away to the crowd-pleasing tunes by the fabulous DJ, LTrax, sat and chatted with friends, old and new. The brave were even able to get up and sing their own favourite song!
Robert one of the owners said that Blayds had ‘something for everyone’ and I could not agree more. For women who think that the scene does not do enough for them and are looking for a night out with something different, then get yourself to Blayds on the first Saturday of the month. Dance, laugh, sing, make new friends and just enjoy!
