Dragged up

The Viaduct played host to the Leeds Heat of the Drag 4 U contest on the 24th of August. Anna Glypta was your hostess with the most breasts and oversaw a fantastic event. Nine drag queens took to the stage, from girls who had never done drag before to the reigning Leeds Drag Idol. The contest featured mime artists, a live vocalist and even a stand-up comedienne. The contest was very close and there were just 40 votes between the top four finalists and just five votes between the winner and the runner up. The winner was Bubbles performing a fantastic Amy Winehouse number, and goes through to represent Leeds at the live grand final in Barnsley, helping to raise money for The Terrence Higgins Trust in the process. A full audio podcast can be found on www.annaglypta.com and video snippets from each of the performers is on www.myspace.com/viaductleeds.

More heats in our region are happening at Club Xes in Sheffield on Sept 14th, Chicago Rock Cafe in Barnsley on Sept 25th, The Little John in York on Oct 19th, Bar Zeus in Wakefield on Nov 16th and the grand final will be held on Friday the 30th of November at the Barnsley Metrodome.
